DEVLOG 02
Weekly Update
Hello and welcome back. This week our team began our ideation process in order to come up with a game pitch. We were tasked with creating a 1-page game pitch to entice and teach the reader about our concept. Through this process, the team has been able to come up with a game pitch that we have all collectively agreed on and will be working to develop.
Brainstorming
Our team took a divergent to convergent approach to brainstorming. We started with individually coming up with our own ideas and presented them to the group. After all ideas were presented the team extracted what they liked about each idea and began to converge. Through this process we were able to compromise and narrow down our ideas into one.
Results
Pitch
Below is the one-page pitch that we created. We are not very proud of the results because it was rushed due to conflicting and busy schedules. Because of this, we had continued to narrow down and flesh out our idea after the fact in order not to fall behind.
Some of the feedback we got stated that
the mechanics were not detailed enough, and our visuals do not enhance the pitch well. So some of our focuses are to at least start prototyping right away so we can get a clear grasp of our own design intentions, and at least some concept sketches, so we can at least capture an idea of our end goal.

Gameplay:
- Metroidvania
Key features
Metroidvania style map that has new sections unlocked as new mechanics are learned. As the player relives memories the environment and background will change to a different era in time. As the player relives past memories, the environment and structures will revert to what they once were. An example of this would be once ruined structures will be rebuilt providing the player with new platforms.
Gameplay Flow/Storyboard
Going forward we have made a simple
story board of the main mechanics and how we hope to have the player experience them through the game. Ideally, we want the player controller to expand throughout the game, when the player completes a memory, the controller grows with the player.
